This site is designed to be completely functional and easily viewed on most computers. If however you are having difficulty please check the following:

Computer Horsepower: For acceptable display of animations and photos, the following is recommended:

• CPU speed 400MHz
• 128MB RAM
• At least 256 or preferably "thousands" of colors.

Screen size: We have designed this site to be visible on the standard size display screen that is 800 pixels wide by 600 pixels high. Actual image area for the site pages are 800x466 to allow room for your browser controls at the top of the screen. When using a display window smaller than 800x600, scroll bars will automatically appear to permit viewing the entire content of the page by scrolling the image areas. This site is not designed for use on miniature screens.

If your display window is larger than 800x600 the extra space will not be used and you will see colored but otherwise empty areas on the right and bottom of the display window.

Browser type: This web site uses technology introduced several years ago with the Netscape 4 and Internet Explorer 4 web browsers. If your web browser is version 3 of these products, or older, some features will not be available. Primarily, color changing text, and changing image display in the "TV" screen at the top right of the home page. Some pages use "Frame" technology which was introduced with version 4 browsers.

This site has been tested with the following list of browsers:

• PC browsers: Internet Explorer 6.02, Netscape 7.1 and 7.2, Opera 7.54,
• Macintosh browsers: Internet Explorer 5.2, Safari 1.0.2

JAVA and Plug-ins: This site does not require JAVA but the home page does require JAVAscript to display the changing image in the little TV screen in the top right corner. Some pages also contain QuickTime spherical panoramic images that will require the free QuickTime Player (version 5 or 6) plug-in available here. QuickTime is proven, reliable, safe multimedia viewer technology for both Macintosh and PC type computers. Although the newer RealPlayer viewers can also display QuickTime images, some of the features are missing (zoom in/out). We recommend QuickTime for viewing all the QuickTime images at this site.

Color Scheme: The page design for this site uses a light aqua for the background, black for normal text, a dark brown for unlit illuminating text, and a neon pink for the lit illuminated text. These contrasting colors should be visible to most people, even with some types of color blindness.

Text Size: All text on this site is in English only and was designed to be displayed with "Arial" font. Web browsers default to displaying text characteristics specified by the web page, however some users configure their web browsers to display the text in a different size or different font. This should not affect the functionality of the web site and all standard text will be visible but it may change the layout of the page, the size of the display area needed, and may require the use of scroll bars which will appear automatically.

For easier reading, the size of standard text (black) can be changed by the user, but illuminated text (brown) is actually a set of images and cannot be changed. Standard text size is changed in your web browser's menu as follows:

• Internet Explorer: Click on "View", then click on "Text Size" then choose a desired size, "smallest", "smaller", "medium", "larger", "largest". The default is "medium".
• Netscape: Click on "View", then click on "Text Zoom" then choose a desired size: 100% is the default.

Download Speed: Any page of this web site is designed to download and be partially functional in less than 10 seconds for visitors with a 56KB dial-in line. Full functionality may take a few more seconds. All large images are downloaded in "progressive" format. i.e. The images are downloaded in three phases. First a rough blurry image is quickly downloaded, then two more phases of successively higher resolution are downloaded. This gives the viewer the chance to "see" the image before it is completely downloaded and eases the frustration factor of staring at a blank canvas. This "progressive" display mechanism is not available with versions of web browsers older than version 4. However, the image will download normally and appear when completely downloaded.
